Lock it in: betr Darwin Triple Crown dates confirmed

One of the Territory’s biggest events, the betr Darwin Triple Crown Supercars Indigenous Round, will return from 14-16 June 2024.

As the official Supercars Indigenous Round, the 2024 betr Darwin Triple Crown will again celebrate and showcase Indigenous culture and the Larrakia land on which the event takes place at Hidden Valley Raceway.

A fan favourite of the Supercars Championship, the event will enter its 26th year following another bumper year in 2023, where more than 42,000 attendances were recorded across the event.

Supercars CEO Shane Howard said the Darwin round is a highlight of the Repco Supercars Championship.

“(It) is a popular and beloved part of our annual championship,” he said.

“Darwin’s famous June weather is the perfect winter getaway for fans and teams alike, and the Indigenous Round element offers us the fantastic opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the rich Indigenous culture present both in the Northern Territory and across Australia.

“In 2023 we were treated to a fantastic weekend of racing and enjoyed the sight of the entire Supercars field donning special Indigenous liveries for the event, each with its own story and featuring several initiatives to benefit the Indigenous community and First Nations people.”

Independent research demonstrates the 2023 event generated a total expenditure stimulus in the Northern Territory of $27.6 million, of which $21.7 million was new money to the Territory.

This was a massive driver for tourism, with almost 50 per cent of those who attended travelling from interstate, with 75,393 visitor nights across the Territory.

More than 83 per cent of Territorians surveyed agreed or strongly agreed the betr Darwin Triple Crown made them proud to be a Territorian, while more than 80 per cent of visitors agreed or strongly agreed their experience enhanced their perception of Darwin and made them more likely to want to visit again.
